I was recently treated to an afternoon tea at a tiny tea shop in the nearest big town we have. I had been told it’s vintage and that’s reflected in the furniture and decor. My chum was absolutely right – the chairs and tables were small and just the size they would have been back in the 1930s and 40s. It just goes to show how much bigger we are than in those days. Access to processed and packaged foods have left their mark on our waist and hip sizes! But what was also fascinating out this trip was seeing the paint colours and curtains chosen to reflect the war time theme. It was as authentic as an amateur museum piece could be and was inspiring to a couple of young students who seemed to be there just to soak up the delightful atmosphere and get tips on how to decorate their first flat outside the confines of student accommodation!
